Guides now show live estimates, plus two new cost guides
Our guides used to avoid quoting prices, because a typed number goes stale the next time a vendor changes a price. Guides can now include live estimate tables instead. They are calculated with the same functions as the estimator every time prices refresh, so they always match it.
Each table says which region and price date it uses, flags any cloud whose total is incomplete (for example, Google Cloud has no managed IoT gateway), and links to the estimator with the same inputs filled in so you can change them.
New and updated guides
- What 1,000 sensors cost per month: a mid-size plant priced building block by building block.
- 100 vs 1,000 vs 10,000 devices: how the bill grows with fleet size, and why cost per device falls.
- Message size and batching now compares reporting every 5, 10, 30 and 60 seconds.
Also new in the estimator
- The reporting interval is now entered in seconds and the archive in years.
- Values outside the allowed range show a message under the field, instead of being changed silently.
- The default is now the 1,000-device mid-size plant example.
