Prices now refresh weekly, with a public price data page
Until now, prices were fetched from Azure, AWS and Google Cloud every night and published straight away. From this week they are fetched once a week, on Monday mornings India time, and each refresh is reviewed before it goes live.
List prices for the services we compare change a few times a year, so a weekly refresh loses very little accuracy. In return, every price change is checked by a person before it reaches an estimate.
What else changed
- A price that can’t be fetched keeps its last good value. If a vendor’s price list is unavailable, or a product is renamed so our mapping no longer matches, the estimate keeps the last price that passed our checks instead of showing a gap. We are notified so the mapping gets fixed.
- A new price data page shows, for each cloud and region, how many prices are in use, when they were last fetched, the vendor’s own date for them, and every change in the latest refresh.
- The exchange rate (European Central Bank reference rate) is now fetched with the same weekly refresh.
How prices are matched and checked is on the methodology page.
